Telkom TJSL Storytelling Documentary: Showcasing Rotenbi SME

Together with Solutive, part of Olahkarsa Group, Telkom produced a TJSL video on Rotenbi Bali to demonstrate how mentoring and the 4Go pillars create tangible impact for SMEs.

Problem 

Many small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in local areas actually hold strong potential for growth. However, limited access to promotion often prevents them from reaching wider opportunities. Rotenbi, a weaving business in Bali, faced the same challenge. Their handcrafted products are not only valuable from an artistic perspective but also represent local cultural identity. Unfortunately, this uniqueness had yet to gain wider recognition.

Recognizing this situation, Telkom Indonesia decided to take action. Through the 4Go TJSL program, Telkom aimed to show that technology and mentoring can create new opportunities for local SMEs to gain exposure and grow sustainably.

Objective 

The video produced was not intended to be just a profile of an SME. It carried a greater purpose, which was to demonstrate how the pillars of 4Go Telkom are implemented on the ground. Through the story of Rotenbi, Telkom sought to highlight how mentoring could help SMEs grow while creating real benefits for the community.

Specifically, the video aimed to:

  • Increase public understanding of how Telkom’s 4Go pillars are applied in real life
  • Highlight Rotenbi’s journey as a mentored SME that successfully grew with consistent support
  • Prove that Telkom’s TJSL is not just a corporate slogan but a program that delivers measurable social impact.

Action 

To achieve this goal, Telkom collaborated with Solutive and Olahkarsa to produce a semi-documentary video. The collaboration worked with complementary roles, where Telkom brought the 4Go TJSL program along with hands-on mentoring for SMEs, Olahkarsa contributed deep insights into community empowerment, while Solutive transformed these elements into visual content that was simple, relatable, and emotionally engaging.

Several strategies were implemented, including:

  • Using Rotenbi’s story as the main narrative thread, allowing viewers to follow their journey from early struggles to sustainable development.
  • Showcasing Telkom’s mentoring activities as an essential part of Rotenbi’s transformation.
  • Capturing the daily life of the weavers through authentic visuals, making the story feel natural and easy to understand.

Through this approach, the video became more than just TJSL documentation. It turned into an inspiring piece of storytelling that educated audiences about Telkom’s program while motivating them with Rotenbi’s meaningful journey.

Results

The production of this video delivered significant impact, both for Rotenbi as a mentored SME and for Telkom in strengthening its corporate image. The narrative presented not only inspired audiences but also clearly demonstrated the connection between TJSL  programs and community empowerment.

Key achievements of the video include:

  • Clearly showing how Telkom’s TJSL  pillars directly supported local SMEs and community development.
  • Turning Rotenbi’s story into inspiring content that reinforced Telkom’s positioning as a brand with real social impact.
  • Being reused in TJSL  presentations and digital distribution, which extended the reach of the message and further strengthened Telkom’s credibility with stakeholders.

In the end, the video served as more than just a documentation. It became an inspiring medium that connected corporate values with real community life while reinforcing that video storytelling can deliver narratives that are relevant and sustainable.
